It’s such a large part of life that it’s of course included in a life simulator. The Sims definitely wants you to be mindful of your waste. And there are several ways to manage it in the game. From trash cans to recycling bins, you never have to worry about your garbage piling up. Unless your Sim is particularly lazy, of course. But luckily, you aren’t even limited to what’s already in the game, either. Our fellow Simmers have created many other custom options for your Sim trash, including recolors as well as totally new objects.
Trash Bins
Check Out This CC Maybe it’s just me, but you don’t seem to see many cylindrical cans nowadays. It’s kind of a shame, since bags are less likely to get stuck inside something without corners. But I’m probably the only one who thinks like that. These are a nice and simple choice. It may be decoration only, but that can always be a plus. If your Sims have a business or large home, they can have a functional bin, as well as this one to make the space look complete. There’s even a ‘push’ sign on the lid, for hands-free use.
Automated Trash Can
Check Out This CC Have you ever wished your trash can was autonomous? Well, me neither. But it’s still a fun idea. This can has a paranormal vibe, making it perfect for a game so quirky and otherworldly as it already is. It comes in wood swatches with ornate accents and a foot pedal. The coolest part comes from the fact that there’s a choice involved here… light or no light? Yes, if you choose correctly, the trash can will illuminate with an ethereal glow whenever it’s used.
Outdoor Bin Recolors
Check Out This CC An outdoor bin is pretty important. Without it, the trash will indeed just accumulate in your Sim’s house. You know how I know that? From experience. Over and over. Seriously, am I the only one that forgets to include these every single time I build a new home? They should just come with the lot like a mailbox! I guess if there’s any plus to having to purchase them yourself, it’s that you get to choose what it looks like. And with these recolors from Cowplant Muffin, you won’t be able to resist. There are options with stickers for recycling or garbage, both in Simlish, as well as a simple plain swatch.
Trash Talk Home Recycler
Check Out This CC The Eco Lifestyle pack integrated the concept of recycling in ways we had never seen in the franchise before. It’s actually something your Sims can do, rather than just having a bin with the appropriate sticker. If living ‘green’ is important to you or your Sims, then you’re probably already familiar with the Guntdach Home Recycler. But isn’t it awfully big? Clearly, this creator thinks so too. Because they have revamped the item into a regular recycling can. It functions the same, and will also additionally work as an outdoor trash can. But your Sims can be active recyclers, putting items in the bin for bits & pieces bucks or immediate bucks.
Plumbum Trash Bin
Check Out This CC I’m someone who prefers metal trash bins. They’re more durable than plastic, and easier to clean. Even though those aren’t concerns in The Sims 4, it’s still nice to be able to apply your real-life tastes, right? This bin from wondymoon has a great metallic appearance and ridged texture. I also think it’s pretty cool that it has a lid. I don’t know why almost all of the cans we have already are open-topped, but I like the “out of sight, out of mind” approach better.
Counter-fit Waste Bin
Check Out This CC Okay, trash disposal through the counter? Genius! This custom bin is perfect for tiny homes, as well as large ones. Whether you’re looking to better utilize space, or simply for alternative trash cans, this is just an awesome creation through and through. It actually goes in counter tops and can be placed on end pieces as well as middles. I’m sure we are all well aware of how finicky counters can be, but that does not apply here. This will snap right to the center and be ready for our 15 piles of trash.
Full of it Smart Trash Can – Patterns Recolor
Check Out This CC RAVASHEEN is clearly a creator who has got everything covered when it comes to furnishing your Sim’s home. This is the same person who brought us the Home Recycler Bin, the counter bin above, and now these recolors of the base game Smart can. A different pattern or color really can make all the difference in the world, as evidenced here. But before we get into that, I’d like to applaud The Sims 4 folks for even including a Smart trash can. I had never even heard of it before, but it’s so necessary, and so useful to our Sims. With odor eliminators and hands-free trash disposal, this is definitely the can of the future. It’s also the closest we have to a functioning trash compactor. The thing is, they aren’t exactly pretty. And that’s where recolors come in! There are six swatches here, including woods both light and dark, as well as a gorgeous floral swatch and finally, a speckled design.
Bathroom Step Trash Can
Check Out This CC When the trash cans were created for this game, I don’t think they were actually meant for bathrooms. Even the kiddie bins are just too large for that. I mean really, no one needs a small dumpster beside the bathtub! Luckily, Katiesimspire has made something much more suitable. This smaller, rounded can will fit easily into any bathroom. It takes up almost no space and has a foot pedal – a true mark of a bathroom bin. Nobody wants to touch what goes in there more than they have to. Yuck.
Eco Lifestyle Home Recycler Recolor
Check Out This CC Maybe you actually don’t mind the size of the Eco Lifestyle Home Recycler – it’s the color that bothers you. Fear not, for creator Athena Sims has replaced those with standard black and white swatches. For such a large piece of machinery, it makes sense, right? Those things are rarely so pretty in real life. The grimy textures and stains will remain, to truly give it that authenticity.
Counter Trash Disposal
Check Out This CC Yep, garbage and counters have met again. If you played The Sims 3, you probably remember the trash compactor that fit into the counter like a dishwasher. It didn’t return in The Sims 4 – until a CC maker decided that it should have. This edit of the NanoCan Touchless Trash Can functions pretty much exactly the same. It’s just a lot more space-savvy now. Perfect for tiny homes or just modern ones, and your Sim’s trash can no longer has to be sticking out like a sore thumb in the kitchen.
